AR-15 Barrel nut shims are thin rings used to adjust the rotational timing of the barrel nut, ensuring the gas tube aligns perfectly with the upper receiver and the ar-15 handguard mounts straight, without affecting headspace.

0.03" thickness allows precision barrel nut timing of most AR-15 barrel nuts.

It will not work with AR-10 .308 barrels or barrel nuts.

Why Barrel Nut Shims are used:

Handguard Alignment: They help ensure that the barrel nut, and consequently the attached handguard, sits flush and straight without canting.

Gas Tube Alignment (Timing): The main purpose is to rotate the barrel nut slightly so the gas tube's port lines up with the upper receiver's gas port, preventing interference.

Achieving Proper Torque: Instead of over-tightening or under-tightening to get alignment, shims allow you to hit the manufacturer's recommended torque range while still achieving perfect timing.
